Amanda Springall‑Rogers
Amanda Springall-Rogers
North-Norfolk based artist Amanda Springall-Rogers started to paint in 2018. First experimenting with watercolour and acrylics, that summer, Amanda was introduced to pastels and soon found that she loved working with this versatile medium. She now uses all forms of pastel to create realistic paintings of wildlife and Natural World subjects, often inspired by the beautiful Norfolk countryside. In addition, she paints other subjects that catch her eye. Amanda also loves working with charcoal and experiments with other mediums and new techniques. She exhibits as a solo artist, with other groups and has hosted exhibitions with other artists in Norfolk and beyond.

Making beautiful objects, through exploring clay and glaze and their properties fascinates me. I am learning new techniques and making discoveries all the time. Through my experiments with clay I fulfil my need to be creative, reviewing and learning, and refining the forms I make using texture and colours. I'm inspired by the place I live: ever-changing Sheringham on the North Coast of Norfolk; and other artists' work, past and present.

Although inspired by art from a young age, I wasn't able to pursue it fully until later in life, when I studied art at college. I now teach weekly drawing and painting classes for adult beginners, sharing the joy of creative discovery. Living in a beautiful natural setting, I find constant inspiration in my surroundings-especially the wildlife. A passionate birdwatcher, I'm drawn to the detail, color, and character of birds and animals, which feature prominently in my work. Observing nature closely has deepened both my artistic practice and my appreciation for the world around me.

I am a mixed media artist and print maker. My work is centered on naturally found organic textures and always botanically inspired, reflecting moments of seasonal changes. I find peace in the mindful and sensory immersive aspects of my process, starting with foraging for plant materials from my garden where my studio is situated and surroundings. I use gel plates (a soft reusable printing plate) in my practice which I find an exciting serendipitous and spontaneous printing method for monoprints/monotypes and creating collage papers and printing directly on to Japanese tissues to layer within my mixed media work.
I am a member of links and layers, a Norfolk-based mixed-media textile group and also a guest artist for pARTners Art who exhibit in Cley. My work is also available in art and craft galleries in North Norfolk.
I also teach botanically inspired gel printing workshops and was shortlisted for John Hurt Art Prize in 2022, 2023 and 2024

My interests lie in the natural world - birds, animals and botanical. I use coloured pencils and watercolours to achieve vibrancy and depth of colour. I aim to show the personality in both my animal and bird paintings. I also like to portray character in my needlefelted british birds, which are made from wool.

Elaine Vincent
Elaine is a Norwich-based artist working across a wide range of media. She originally studied graphic design and typography at Great Yarmouth College of Art in the early 1980s but stepped away from the creative arts for nearly 20 years to raise a family.
In 2003, an adult education class in watercolours reignited her passion for painting. Eager to further develop her skills and technical knowledge in other disciplines, she returned to education and, in 2022, achieved a Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design with merit from the University of the Arts London (UAL).

I have always enjoyed art, from school days onwards. It was something I was good at as a child. I studied up to A level then later on in life I studied photography and science combining them both for work. All through raising children I painted, and once they were older I studied with a tutor who was, and is, inspirational. I love experimenting with different media and generally gain inspiration from the natural world, especially animals and wild life. I paint what I love and take commisions. I hope you like my art as well.

I am a self taught artist and over the years I have enjoyed painting, textiles, mixed media and wood turning. Last year I finally got around to learning about automata which has long been on my list of things to do! I was inspired to develop my moving birds by a pied wagtail which visits me everyday. Most of the wood I use has been retrieved from skips and each piece is unique and truly a labour of love. I hope you enjoy playing with them as much as I have enjoyed making them!

Natural history is my passion, and my art is one way of expressing that. Everything I produce has a direct link to observations in the field. It's not just loosely inspired by nature; it is directly driven by it. I teach various aspects of this through the tour company Art Safari, but mainly produce work to deepen my understanding of wildlife.

Mark Glaister
Mark Glaister
I began my watercolour journey some years ago, but suffice to say it was late in life. Its roots go back to my childhood growing up in Cumbria and the paintings of my rather eccentric uncle, Ernest Glaister. Living there, he was never short of beautiful scenery to paint.
I was inevitably drawn to landscapes myself and now I have beauty all around in North Norfolk. I can only describe the recurring theme across my artwork as: 'I paint what Norfolk means to me'. It’s such a tranquil and unspoilt corner of the world. Yet it’s so fragile.

Since early childhood art and design have been part of my life. After retiring early from my career as a building surveyor, I chose to take a degree in fine art (painting and sculpture) at Hertfordshire University. In 2002 we moved to North Norfolk and I was lucky to have a garden studio to continue my work painting in oils, watercolour and pastels and making sculpture.
In 2003 I started making sculpture in Holt Country Park using found materials and timber supplied by North Norfolk District Council.
In 2008 I started a small charcoal drawing class in Hempstead at the village hall to inspire new artists. Having concentrated on watercolour painting inspired by North-Norfolk churches, country side, sea and boats for the last few years, my current work explores the use of charcoal and pastel.

An Open College of the Arts course and a Natural History Illustration course have been the basis of my practice. Charcoal is my favourite medium. I am interested in the potential of relief printmaking, especially linocut, for producing a different style of work.
Recently I have introduced colour using various media, sometimes combining materials and techniques to produce collages. The freedom of abstract work inspired by cityscapes and the natural world has been another avenue of exploration.

After being brought up in rural Mid-Wales, and retiring from a career in countryside management, I now live in North Norfolk and follow my passion for watching and photographing wildlife. I aim to depict the Art of Nature, achieving a simplicity in-camera which belies the level of fieldcraft (and patience) required to achieve this. My work has won numerous awards in competitions such as Bird Photographer of the Year and WildArt Photographer of the Year.

I have always loved art but recently I began to experiment with mixed media and textiles and now it has become my passion. Living by the sea in beautiful North Norfolk, I am inspired by the surrounding nature and wonderful colours.
Over the last year my work has focused on the concept of 'Under the surface', encouraging the viewer to see things not always evident with the naked eye and to look beyond what we notice at first glance.

I’m a self-taught fen-based sculptor, woodworker and maker of things. My designs go by the name of Grizz Custom Creations. I am influenced by the landscape, nature and artists of East Anglia. I am an avid learner. I like to find new techniques and mediums that complement my work. My abstract sculptures are made from hardwood and resin. I keep detail to a minimum maintaining a smooth shape that captures the body and spirit of the animal. I am currently focusing on the birds I like to see when I’m walking the coasts and marshes of Norfolk and Suffolk.

I am an RAF Veteran, and lost my right arm while serving in the first Gulf War.
I have been working with resin & wood to produce small to medium sized River Tables and wall art. I also create resin abstract paintings which, when lit, show a wealth of ever- changing colours within the design.
I have immersed myself into my art work, and find it a great source of therapy and relaxation which helps with my wellbeing.

I live in the heart of the Norfolk countryside surrounded by the natural landscape of fields, trees and open spaces. The ever-changing seasonal patterns give me inspiration for my ink and watercolour paintings and my love of interpreting natural lines into shapes and patterns.

I moved to North Norfolk three years ago and have since enjoyed exploring the area through birdwatching, walking and sketching. Pen and watercolour field sketches form a basis for finished wildlife and landscape paintings made in my studio with Cley marshes and its birdlife providing inspiration for much of my work, as well as travels to seabird colonies in Scotland. From my studio I enjoy painting still life and work in a variety of media including oils and pastels.

Terrie Clifft

Terrie began her glass journey in Hertfordshire twenty years ago, with cold glass producing 'stained glass' panels and windows before going on to copper-foiled glass. After moving permanently to North Norfolk, Terrie attended a course on fusing glass and was hooked! She now works with Spectrum, Oceanside and Bullseye glasses to produce colourful decorative and functional pieces. Terrie often includes copper, silver, oxides and frits into her work. She especially likes dichroic glass and casting glass.
Terrie trained at Middlesex University, majoring in Art, before pursuing a successful career teaching in and working with primary schools for over 30 years in Norfolk and Hertfordshire. Her work has been sold at many exhibitions and has now found a new home in many different countries!

From dilettante, to learner, to maker and aspiring alchemist, I never had much knowledge or, frankly, commitment to the arts until I took up metal fabrication and finishing as a self-taught craft. That grew into a full-time pursuit and, somewhere along the say, I made it my mission to turn metal into quality, lasting pieces with function, character (or both). I'm still learning with a long road ahead to reach my goals, reminding myself that mistakes do most of the teaching.
