Lesley AshLesley has been making figurative sculpture in cold-cast metals for over 12 years. She works them in clay, before making a mould and casting them in either bronze, brass, iron or copper. Inspired by her grandchildren, her larger work documents the children's development. She also makes animals, sometimes commissioned by their owners but often because a particular dog or creature catches her eye. All the cold-cast figures are outdoor sculpture and are left outdoors all winter with no ill effects.

Gill BaguleyAfter a lifetime spent teaching Art to children in London, I've returned to Norfolk and, now, in retirement, I am fulfilling a lifelong ambition to paint. Norfolk, with its myriad of wonderful land and seascapes enthral me, as do my feline friends. Using acrylic, ink and paint is my preferred medium. What a wonderful life!

Kate BarclayFor me the Norfolk coast is a haven of peace and tranquility, with wide-open land, sea and skyscapes that give an ever-changing array of textures, shapes and beautiful natural colours. Light plays a huge part in my photography and I can often be found wandering the same stretch of coastline marvelling how different it can look in different lights. I am always trying to create the perfect shot, but I know that tomorrow the light might be that little bit better! My journey as a photographer began in 2004. I exhibited in my first Norfolk open studios during which I met lots of interesting people, started to sell my images and gained exciting openings to several other ventures. I have won several photographic competitions, had work published in many magazines as well as being a featured photographer in a fabulous book on photography published in 2006.

Alison BramleyAlison started making patchwork and quilted items after doing a City and Guilds Fashion and Design course 1979-82 where she achieved a distinction. She did a project in accessories making a quilted bag and got hooked. After her fourth child in 1983 she made small patchwork items to sell at craft fairs and made quilts for all the family. Initially she copied designs. She prefers her own since going to Loughborough College of Art and Design in 1989-90 where she, again, achieved a distinction. Alison draws her inspiration from all sorts of places - architecture; nature; stained glass; windows; etc. Alison sometimes describes her work as 'painting with fabrics'.

Rosie BramleyMy work is primarily inspired by landscape and my devotion to nature. I record my observations within the landscape, through photography, drawing and painting. Back in the studio my work begins to take on a life of its own... often figurative, but usually abstraction often wins over the real. I work with a mixture of media; inks, oils, acrylic, spray paint, collage. I enjoy the process of creating new textures and surfaces when combining a mixture of materials. My objective is to create an elemental sense of space, place and existence within my painting; evoking memory and connections to places travelled and journeys made. I am inspired by many landscapes; some local, some further afield. Recent work is inspired by coastal visits to Cornwall and Staithes, as well as the mountain rich paintings of the snow covered Alps.

Ruth BrumbySince retiring two years ago from being a primary school headteacher, I have been recycling old education management books into papier-mache vessels that reflect my love of the North Norfolk landscape. I enjoy experimenting with colours, textures and forms to make pieces based on the plants and natural environment that I see on my daily walks. In 2013 I exhibited at the International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists exhibition in Norwich and this year I have work in a number of local galleries.

Liz ChristensenAt present I am mainly figurative in my approach, but do enjoy the abstract qualities that watercolour produces. My work in this medium is fairly free and loose. This conveys the qualities I am trying to achieve in my paintings. The dry point studies are more confined, but still, I hope, have a freedom about them.

Bob CrookI am a Norfolk bred wildlife artist, living in Cromer, specialising in mostly bird subjects in acrylic; pencil and ink; and watercolour. Inspiration for my work comes from birdwatching, I am a self-confessed Larophile (a seagull fanatic!), and my passion for and experiences with the natural world. From a young age I was interested in birds and art, I later went on to spend a career spanning nearly thirty years working in nature conservation management for bodies such as National Trust; RSPB; Broads Authority; and English Nature. My many (I have a few!) artistic influences include Roland Green; Keith Shackleton; Robert Gilmore; Jason Partner; Lars Jonnson; Chris Rose; Keith Brockie; and Terrence James Bond. In 2011, I took voluntary redundancy from Natural England, due to ill health, and subsequently started life as a Wildlife Artist.

Trevor DennissI began painting after my father died in 1971 using his painting materials - this was my way of coping with the grief that I felt at his loss. Before his death I had accompanied him on several occasions to his Art Society in Hertfordshire as an interested observer, not as a practicing participant. I began to paint in watercolour believing, erroneously, like most people who start to paint late in life, that this was an 'easier' medium and, of course, less messy and more convenient. But as soon as I started painting with oils I found this to be a much more powerful outlet for my personal, artistic expression and I now paint in the studio almost exclusively in this medium, although many of my preliminary tonal studies and compositions are quick pen and wash or watercolour sketches created on the spot - en plein air - as this is my preferred method of working, sometimes with the help of reference photos. The four paintings in this exhibition have been created in this way, from drawings and photos collected in the local area around my home in Erpingham.

Jennifer HaleI started my interest in glass craft when I was studying for my MA in fine art, 2010-2012, in London, where I used a broad range of materials, including wood, concrete and glass. I have always thrived on using mixed media, throughout my education and my teaching practice. Teaching within the fields of Art and Design requires my day-to-day practice to be open to ideas, introducing students to the opportunities with a range of applications. My second cousin, Chris White, also in this exhibition, introduced me to the materials, techniques and craft of using glass three years ago and I have not looked back since. I frequently visit North Norfolk and have always done so since I was a child, so the environment is very familiar to me and has clearly inspired my work with the beach and seaside scenes. I create mini, abstracted scenes of seaside views, use glass offcuts, remnants and craft based materials including wood, fabrics, shells and most recently, paints.

Hilldred HarmanI have been painting for many years as an amateur, experimenting in many different mediums. Having lived in Lincolnshire for many years I was inspired by the fabulous skies, the dawns and sunsets. Watercolours were ideal for this, which I mainly concentrate on now. Now, enjoying most of my time in North Norfolk I love the variety of light, venues and charm of the Norfolk landscapes. I just love being in the landscape and do virtually no studio work. You can see more of my work on my website.

Christine HaywoodReturning to art was my millennium promise to myself. Whilst working as a gardener, I was inspired to capture the sense of being up close to a flower. I paint in high detail to show the often hidden, but beautiful aspects of plant forms. Watercolour is a subtle medium which works well with my methods. I use many layers to achieve a vibrancy of colour with a transparency that allows other colours to show through. Please visit my website.

Doreen HebronI graduated from The Glasgow School of Art as a Graphic Designer - some years ago... Worked all over the place doing all manner of related jobs from producing graphics at a teaching hospital to illustrating children's comics, with a glancing blow (not literally of course) to Paddington bear and other famous furry creatures in between. I eventually settled down to being a freelance illustrator who occasionally dabbles in other Art-world stuff.

Helen HerbertI paint because I love to paint. I love moving colour around a canvas and making it work. Armed with a sketch book, I collect people and places which I then translate onto canvas in the studio. These paintings are how I see people and places but are left open to the viewer's interpretation.

Charles InglisI have always been interested in wildlife and in particular looking at things close up. We are oblivious to so many wonderful things until we see them magnified. I started taking an interest in butterflies in 2009 after witnessing a huge migration of Painted Ladies reach our shores. Initially I only wanted to take pictures to record the number of different varieties I could see in one year. However nobody told me that finding and photographing butterflies was addictive so I gradually found myself improving my equipment and reading up on how to take better pictures of insects. They are pesky creatures to take photographs of because they don't sit still, or a blade of grass is always casting a shadow, or you struggle to get enough depth of field to keep the parts you want in focus. However, that is what makes it challenging and satisfying when you do get a picture that you like.

Rainie KayLandscape and history drives my inspiration, together with a passion for lots of different materials and textures - often used in rather bizarre combinations. Previously a professional theatrical (traditional) photographer, I returned to education and studied fine art with ceramics. Now primarily a printmaker, I also paint contemporary abstract landscape and have returned to photographic-based image-making via digital technology.

Krys LeachBorn in Sydney but raised in London, I was taught by Kyffin Williams RA before attending Norwich School of Art. Although painting since childhood, I've exhibited professionally since 1996 and shown all over England and parts of the Irish Republic. Although I'm best known for my landscapes and maritime subjects, I'm gaining a reputation for collectable figure work. Distinctive for their rich colour and evocative use of light, my images often suggest hidden narratives or unguarded moments. Varying in size between several feet and several inches, my work is held in a number of East Anglian Hospitals and private collections around the world.

Keri LoweI have always made something, ever since I was a child. I enjoy the freedom of flitting from one medium to another and love to try everything new. My passions are working with clay, felt and textiles and papier-mache but that may be because there's other things I haven't tried yet! I don't really have inspired ideas... I just have to fulfill urges which is why there never seems to be a thread to anything I do.

Pauline PlummerI studied Fine Art at the University of Reading, a four-year course, involving drawing and oil painting, with life, still-life and landscape as subjects. I subsequently studied painting conservation for the C of E at the Courtauld Institute, and spent much of my career in churches and cathedrals. Throughout the years I carried on with a certain amount of drawing and painting, and went on various courses at home and abroad to keep my hand in. Having now retired from conservation, I am happily able to spend a much larger proportion of my time producing my own painting.

Sarah ScottI have always loved creating Art and Music. I studied History of Art and then Art Gallery and Museum Studies at Manchester University. After working as Gallery Services Officer at the Whitworth Art Gallery, I relocated to live and work in Norfolk. I then trained and worked as a teacher and love sharing my ideas and skills with others. I have lectured in Art History for Cambridge Extra-Mural Department. Largely self-taught, my Contemporary Art practise is mainly abstract or semi-abstract. Painting, printmaking, photography and textile/collage pieces are intuitive and often experimental. I am interested particularly in Line, Layering and Colour. I love Red and Payne's Grey; East Anglian skies; the Coast; the tactile nature of the materials and the total commitment to the creative process.

Ute SutcliffeUte studied art since she was 14 years old. She joined a private Art group under the tutelage of Karl Klode, who had studied at the Bauhaus, where he worked under Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Kirchner and others. Klode taught a variety of subjects like the history of art through the centuries, composition of a picture and life drawing in all media. At 18 full time studies continued at the art and craft College connected to the Kunst Akademie, Dusseldorf, under Professor Hellersberg. Here Ute studied painting, craft, pottery, woodwork, metalwork, weaving and various other crafts and qualified as an Art and Craft teacher. 10 years ago she met with a group of artists under Colin Bygrave, a well-known Norfolk artist, who introduced her to her present art form of Montage, Watercolour and Ink.

Mike ThodySince early childhood art and design have been part of my life. After retiring early from from my career as a building surveyor, I chose to take a degree in fine art (painting and sculpture) at Hertfordshire University. In 2002 we moved to North Norfolk and I was lucky to have a garden studio to continue my work painting in oils, watercolor and pastels and making sculpture. In 2003 I started making sculpture in Holt Country Park using found materials and timber supplied by North Norfolk District Council. In 2008 I started a small charcoal drawing class in Hempstead at the village hall to inspire new artists. In the last two years I have concentrated on watercolor painting inspired by North-Norfolk churches, country side, sea and boats.

Chris VerrijdenChristine started 'doodling' as soon as she could hold a pencil. Exactly when this evolved into 'proper' drawing is something that's impossible to judge. In time, her drawing came to accept the guidance offered by perspective and scale and so her life as an artist began. In adulthood, Christine took up painting - enjoying many wonderful and life changing painting holidays in Norfolk. She loved it so much she decided to stay and has lived in North Norfolk since 2004. She remains inspired and fascinated by the landscapes and seascapes that Norfolk and other parts of this country offer. Christine paints mainly from photographs in her studio; using palette knives, oil and acrylic paints. She particularly enjoys painting woodland scenes.

Chris WhiteChris has had no formal art training although excelled in art and technical drawing. He trained as a mechanic servicing all kinds of office machinery working in the City of London. Later he turned his attention to the electrical retail trade. He moved to Norfolk in 1991 to run his own grocery/newsagent shop and post office. After ten years he sold on this business to pursue his love of glass crafting. As a trained and qualified adult education tutor he has seen many of his students take up this fascinating and rewarding craft all producing excellent work. Chris exhibits his work with the National Trust and numerous other private gardens. He exhibits his work every year as part of the North Norfolk Open Studios event.
